Learned about a local trend with the common council enjoying drinking...then, while reading some information on illegal immigration issues, I stumble onto an article:
"Diversity Is Strength! It’s Also…Drunk Driving"

Why Won't the RNC Support the Base?

I just don't get it -- what's going on with the RNC? Didn't the recent elections show them what happens when they ditch the conservative base? It doesn't appear they're paying attention.

Karl Rove picked Sen. Mel Martinez to be general chairman of the Republican National Committee -- this Senator co-authored a bill that would grant amnesty to illegal aliens. Say what, Mr. Rove???

What I see is a party pandering to Hispanics hoping to get their vote. Why are they so afraid they cannot "get the vote" (no matter the race) by just being conservatives?

What the People Want...

1,500 likely voters were polled by Rasmussen Reports, June 7-8, 2006. The margin of sampling error for the survey is plus or minus 3 % with a 95% level of confidence. Results: 85% of Americans, including 92% of Republicans, 79% of Democrats, and 86% of those not affiliated with either party, favor making English the official language of the United States of America. I'd say that's a majority.

This is a totally non-partisan issue that the majority of Americans agree on ...

English the official language of America

The following senators voted against making English the official language of America:
Akaka (D-HI)
Bayh (D-IN)

Agency Defines Term 'Whole Grain' for Use on Food Labels
FDA has issued guidance for companies that use the term "whole grain" on their food product labels. The agency considers whole grain to be intact, ground, cracked or flaked cereal grains (such as oats, corn, rice and wheat) that contain endosperm, germ and bran in the same proportion as in the intact grain.
